The design process

Below is the general process that we follow for all jobs from brief to completion. We find that if our clients, especially the new ones, are aware of this process then the whole project runs smoothly.

STEP 1 – The Brief

If you are interested in commissioning us to work on your design project, the first step would be to provide as detailed as possible list of requirements. We will then review your needs and feedback with any questions or requests for missing items. This will usually provide us with enough information to put together a quote for your project and to begin work on some initial concepts. On larger projects, its often recommended to hold a skype meeting to discuss ideas. This also ensures everyone is on the same page for the goals of the project.

STEP 2 – Initial concepts

Once you have confirmed via email that you are happy with the quote, terms and timescale for the project, we would start on the initial concept designs. These initial designs will be emailed to you in a PDF document, to review and provide feedback on. Please note for web design projects and/or other larger projects, a 30% up-front payment of the total quoted amount will be required before work commences.

STEP 3 – Review and revise

When you have received the initial concepts and had some time to look over them, we will ask you to comment on each design and respond with your feedback/opinions (good or bad!) Usually, the client will like a couple of designs or perhaps elements from a few of them. We will use this feedback to evolve the design towards a more desired result. The review and revise process will continue until you are completely happy with the final design reached. Please note that a draft sticker will be applied to all draft artwork to ensure that you have a visual indicator that the artwork isn’t complete and is not print-ready.

STEP 4 – Finalise and sign-off

On receipt of a ‘sign-off’ confirmation email, your final design will be supplied to you via email, in a variety of formats for use in both web and print. These will include PDF, JPEG, TIFF and EPS files. If you require any other specific formats, please feel free to request these and we will provide them at no extra cost. Please note that it is the responsibility of the content supplier (client) to fully check that the content is correct. All design elements, spell-checks and sensory checks will be completed by ourselves.

STEP 5 – Payment

Once the final design has been decided upon and you have received the final files, you will be sent a final invoice via email. Full copyright is of course automatically passed to the client upon receipt of this final payment. (see FAQ’s)
